Meditation can help increase focus, intuition, and spiritual development. Integrating crystals into a meditation practice can reinforce intentions, deepen it further, and open doors to higher states of consciousness.
Select a crystal that resonates with you and feels good in your hand, then place it before or on your heart centre to meditate with.
1. Focus on the crystal
Meditation involves intentionally quieting your mind and focusing on one thing for a set period of time. Incorporating crystals into this practice may enhance its effects of relaxation as their vibrations may connect with universal energies.
When it comes to selecting a crystal, you have several options that align with your desired energy, like amethyst for soothing and clarity or citrine for abundance and success. Furthermore, you should choose one that resonates with both your intention and any specific aspects of meditation you hope to address.
Once you’ve found your crystal, be sure to cleanse and “charge” it before beginning meditation with it. Sit with it in front of you and close your eyes; focus on breathing while visualizing how your intention can become part of its form.
2. Take a few deep breaths
As soon as you feel completely grounded, take time to focus on breathing with the crystal in your hands. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth while visualizing positive energy from your crystal entering your body with each breath.
Grounding yourself can help your energy to flow more freely, especially when using crystals such as black tourmaline which has powerful grounding properties or obsidian which has the capacity to balance energies.
As your meditation session comes to a close, turn your focus back to your crystal and thank it for its help. Carry it with you or return it to its place on the meditation altar – either way be sure to regularly clean and recharge it!
3. Relax
Many cultures rely on crystals as a source of calming, peaceful energy to quiet mind wanderings and concentrate concentration. Crystals also allow individuals to connect to high vibration universal energies, helping their minds relax so that intuition and deeper consciousness may emerge within.
Rose quartz, citrine and amethyst are excellent crystals to use when practicing meditation, as these crystals promote love, joy and abundance in all three realms – physical, emotional and spiritual. Black tourmaline or smoky quartz may provide additional grounding support and protection – two great solutions if stress becomes an issue for you.
As soon as it’s time to end your meditation, take several deep breaths before opening your eyes slowly. Remember to thank your crystal for its support as well.
4. Let go
Crystals make an elegant addition to your meditation practice, helping you switch off autopilot, focus on the present moment and manifest change.

5. Close your eyes
Crystals can add additional benefits to your meditation practice. Their energy helps focus and deepen your connection to both Mother Earth and your own intuition.
Place the crystal of your choice on the area of the forehead directly between the nose and eyebrows – often known as the third eye – where it will serve to open a communication channel through which information or visual images may come through.
Once you’ve decided on an intention, take time to focus on visualizing how it connects with a specific stone – for instance amethyst’s third eye stimulating properties or rose quartz’s emotional healing support – before closing your eyes and visualizing transferring that intention into your crystal so it aligns with it.
