Integrating chakra stones into your spiritual practices can have an amazing effect on balancing and healing of your energy centers, such as meditation and visualization techniques, or by creating a chakra crystal grid.
Smoky Quartz is often associated with the Root Chakra to promote feelings of security, while turquoise gemstones associated with the Throat Chakra help facilitate communication and self-expression.
Root Chakra
Your sense of security, stability and survival instincts begin in your root chakra (also called Muladhara) by grounding you to Earth by pulling energy downward – literally providing grounding support.
Emotional trauma and fear can obstruct this chakra, leading to feelings of insecurity, anxiety and disconnection with others and with the world at large. Additionally, fatigue may develop. Therefore it’s essential that practitioners balance their Root Chakra through exercises like grounding, meditation and bodywork (located at the perineum–that’s your coccyx) (1).
Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) is associated with creativity, sexual pleasure and emotions. Located four fingerbreadths below the navel and associated with water element.
Balanced chakras will leave you feeling energetic, emotionally expressive and capable of forging healthy emotional relationships. Additionally, your sexuality will become clearer while creating a deeper sense of self-worth and liberation.
Blocked sacral chakras may be caused by body shame, an authoritarian upbringing or toxic relationships; childhood trauma and sexual abuse also can have an adverse impact. To open this energy center again, try pranayama techniques such as nadi shodhana (alternating nostril breathing). Laughter and dancing can also serve as great stimulators of sacral chakras.
Heart Chakra
The Anahata chakra serves as a center for love and compassion, serving to bridge earthly experiences with spiritual awareness.
An aligned Heart Chakra allows you to trust your instincts in relationships, interpret emotions accurately, build resilience and find beauty even in difficult circumstances.
Deep blockages in this chakra may arise from unhealed emotional wounds like betrayal or abandonment that have gone unhealed, so it’s crucial that you find appropriate chakra balancing, healing and meditation techniques tailored specifically to you and your individual needs. Doing this will open your heart up to self-love and unconditional love – which are two critical tenets of life.
Throat Chakra
The Throat Chakra (Vishuddhi) is located between the throat, larynx, mouth and ears and governs communication skills, thyroid function and voice clarity. People who possess a healthy Throat Chakra can express themselves freely while deepening their connection to themselves and connecting more fully to their authentic selves.
Unbalanced Throat Chakra can lead to you prioritizing others’ needs over your own, leaving you feeling blocked and silenced. Unlocking this energy center requires learning how to value and utilize your voice while setting healthy boundaries and communication channels.
Breathing exercises designed to move air across your throat can help balance this chakra. Practice Brhamari breath (bee breath) or Lion’s Breath (Simhasana). Positive affirmations may also provide support, helping encourage honest and open communication.
Third Eye Chakra
The sixth chakra, also known as Ajna, lies between your eyebrows and serves as your intuition center. When in balance, this energy center allows you to perceive the bigger picture and trust your inner wisdom. Furthermore, this center helps balance self-awareness and emotional stability so that healthy choices can be made more readily.
Unlocking and harmonizing the Third Eye is a journey best undertaken alone, taking time and dedication. For success in this endeavour to unfold successfully, setting clear intentions to guide spiritual development is essential.
To open and balance the Third Eye, engage in activities which stimulate this energy center – for instance meditations, affirmations and yoga poses such as Child’s Pose can all stimulate it.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Yoga holds that the solar plexus chakra is responsible for clarity, vitality and personal power – when in good shape it allows us to feel strong enough and capable of facing life’s challenges gracefully.
Blockage of this chakra leaves us feeling powerless over ourselves and unable to make decisions, while yoga has taught us that when our solar plexus chakra is balanced, we become less afraid of taking risks and moving beyond comfort zones. Yellow crystals like citrine yellow jasper and tigers eye, as well as eating foods rich in yellow tones such as bananas corn turmeric can all help stimulate it as an energy center; boat pose (navasana) and sun salutations practices can also be powerful tools in keeping this center balanced.
