Crystals have long been associated with healing. Many believe they can create energy to counteract negative vibrations.

Amethyst is said to provide soothing vibrations that allow one to speak their truth during difficult discussions, while Chalcedony brings an alert yet grounded energy that assists with managing stress or anxiety.

ENERGY

Crystals are beautiful, mysterious objects that captivate our imaginations. However, some proponents claim they can also help improve physical and mental wellness by positively interacting with one’s energy field – yet is there any substance behind these claims that crystals have healing powers?

Some crystals, like quartz, can be exploited to produce electricity using either piezoelectricity (force produces an electrical charge) or pyroelectricity (temperature changes cause an electric current), making them suitable for use in lighters and gas grill ignition buttons. This technology has proven useful when producing lightbulbs and LED cigarette lighters.

Researchers from NYU Abu Dhabi’s Smart Materials Lab developed a crystal that produces electricity when touched with a fingertip, providing enough power for LED lights or cell phone chargers.

NYUAD researchers hope that by placing crystals under asphalt of busy roads, such as those found in California’s plan to power 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles by 2025, children could use floodlights powered by crystals as an alternative source of light at night for play instead of hanging out with gang members. It may not be as ambitious but nevertheless remains an encouraging start.

HEALING

Crystals can help create an energy that promotes healing. Certain crystals, like amethyst and fluorite, help purify and cleanse an environment, clearing away negativity from rooms and auras. Rose quartz and moonstone crystals help strengthen self-acceptance while rose quartz provides self-care through self-love practices.

However, while many who utilize crystals believe they can treat physical ailments with crystals, there is no scientific proof for these claims. One theory suggests that using both placebo effect and vibrational frequencies of specific crystals could have significant positive results on our health.

When selecting your crystal, trust your intuition. Pick one that captivates you regardless of its aesthetics alone. Once you’ve selected a stone, spend time meditating with it and connecting to its energy. Also be sure to place them outdoors during full moon for cleansing purposes – this will remove any negative energies while rejuvenating them for future use in healing practices.

INTUITION

There’s much speculation around intuition; while it may appear unsubstantial at first, many soldiers returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq wars reported using intuition to save lives.

Crystals are said to amplify energy and enhance intuition, with some possessing specific energies such as rose quartz being known for its soft energy that promotes self-love while clear quartz can assist with clarity of mind and spiritual growth.

Askinosie suggests sitting quietly and holding the stone between both hands while thinking about your intention, which allows the stone to absorb your energy and activate. She further recommends pairing your crystal with meditation for even greater effect – for instance using rose quartz crystal for love or clear quartz for protection meditating with either. Don’t forget to thank it afterward!

PLACEBIOT EFFECT

People often believe that crystals possess healing powers, although there is no scientific proof for this belief. There is some evidence suggesting they can produce a placebo effect similar to taking pills with no medicinal ingredients and improving health conditions due to belief alone.

Stuart Vyse, a psychologist who studies superstitions, suggests that placebo effects can be explained through learned associations. For instance, in one experiment conducted by him and his colleagues involving real and fake crystals given out for people to expect specific sensations (warmth, tingling or vibrations) was successful at priming people for positive experiences–but only those primed with expectations experienced them themselves!

Crystals have become a lucrative industry, fueling growth of their mining industry in developing countries such as Madagascar where 80 percent of crystals come from. Unfortunately, some unsafe working conditions, low wages, and child labor can occur there; to ensure you support ethical mining when purchasing crystals it’s essential that you know its origin and support ethical mining.
