Spiritual gifts are supernatural abilities endowed with by the Holy Spirit that serve to bless others and advance God’s Kingdom. Unlike natural talents, these spiritual abilities exist specifically to serve a higher purpose: blessing others while expanding it.

These include faith, which allows believers to trust God’s promises and expect Him to act; wisdom; discerning spirits, as well as discernment gifts.

Knowledge Gifts

Knowledge gives individuals insight into individuals and situations they might otherwise remain unaware of, as well as spiritual truths they could otherwise miss out on learning about. This ability often works in tandem with discernment and prophecy gifts.

This gift of discernment and revelation isn’t exclusive to clergy and spiritual leaders; anyone seeking God and operating in the Spirit may receive one. This revelation could manifest as a word, vision, dream, thought or feeling and can help build up Christ’s body by providing direction or comfort.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church distinguishes between natural knowledge gleaned through study, reason and experience and supernatural knowledge provided by God through Scripture that can allow us to perceive Him in creation and discern His guidance. An imbalance between our gifts of knowledge and wisdom could compromise our ability to recognize and follow His guidance.

Feeling Gifts

Emotions play an integral role in spiritual experience. You have an innate capacity for feeling, but also possess the ability to choose how you interpret each new event or circumstance – this is called emotional self-regulation and can be harnessed for personal spiritual growth.

Give the gift of feeling with products that encourage inner spirituality, such as jewelry featuring symbols from the Tree of Life or mandalas, or encourage them to explore their emotions through books by Eckhart Tolle or Deepak Chopra on mindfulness and spirituality. Those possessing this talent should remember not to exploit or seek publicity through this gift for personal gain.
