Fall means festival time.

Two fall festivals will take place this weekend in the Thomasville and the Tyro communities along with a bounty of other events that will entertain you during your time away from the daily grind at work.

Check out these five things happening in Davidson County this weekend.

Fall Festival

Rierson Farms of Thomasville will have a fall festival from 1-6 p.m. Oct. 21. Several local vendors will set up, and the farm’s pumpkins will be for sale. Expect music and line dancing with DJ Chilly Willie. Goose & the Monkey Brewhouse will have their brews on tap. Pour Folk Provisions Co. will offer small, farm-inspired meals for purchase. Rierson Farms is a small farm owned by Zach and Monica Rierson. It offers a variety of fresh farm products such as pasture-raised eggs, produce, livestock, and goat milk soap. The farm is at 365 Paul Kennedy Road.

Make art as a family

Pig City Books will host author Micki Bare as she leads family-fun fall art activities and a question-and-answer session and reads from and signs her books from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 21. The bookstore is at 16 Court Square.

Salute to Veteran Artisans

Saving Grace K9’s will celebrate veteran artisans from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 21. The artists will set up to demonstrate and/or sell their craft. There will be farm products, produce, a masseuse, wood crafts, handcrafted knives, candles infused with healing crystals, stained glass, soaps, local honey, dog treats, wood flower arrangements, jewelry and more. All proceeds go directly to the veteran artisan. The venue is at 760 Sink Farm Road in Lexington.

Make a tie dye apron

Want to learn how to make tie dye clothing? The Senior Country Store will offer a tie dye class from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 21 where participants will make a colorful apron. You will pick your pattern and be walked through a step-by-step process. The class is limited to 10 people. Sign up at the store. The cost is $20 and includes all supplies and instruction. Payment is due at registration. The Senior Country Store is at 6031 Old Highway 52 in Welcome.

Orchard fall festival

The Surrat Orchard Fall Festival will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 21. Attendees can choose a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. In addition, there will be face painting, pumpkin painting, cornhole and craft vendors. The orchard is at 6957 S. Highway 150 in the Tyro community.
