Quartz crystals are one of the most prevalent stones on Earth. However, certain varieties may stand out with specific colourings or formations making them rarer than others.

Rose quartz gets its lovely hue from iron ions and is relatively rare, while other lesser-known variations such as prasiolite and dumortierite also exist.

Healing Properties

Quartz crystals have long been prized for their healing powers, offering vital support to balance energy bodies, clear negativity, and connect with higher guidance. Many people collect quartz crystals as part of a personal healing arsenal.

Clear Quartz is the master healer among healing crystals. As one of the most versatile healing stones, Clear Quartz helps clear and increase energy levels while improving immunity and connecting you to spiritual self.

Quartz crystal is a form of silicon dioxide found naturally as gemstones like amethyst, citrine, and smoky quartz as well as minerals such as pyrite and chalcedony. You’ll also find various shapes and forms of quartz such as crystal points (pointed at both ends), gemini crystals with two inclined “windows” at either end, window crystals with an inclined window on either side, window crystals with inclined windows at each side, window crystals with inclined windows either side, window crystals with inclined windows either side and tabular (flat) points; all these shapes help channel energy towards your intention or goal more effectively than others do – make an appointment today to see for yourself what awaits!

Purpose

Quartz crystal has an inherent property known as piezoelectricity that causes an electric charge when subjected to mechanical stress or pressure, making it suitable for timekeeping devices and electronic equipment that requires regular, accurate signals. Due to this property, quartz crystal vibrates at extremely precise intervals allowing timekeeping devices and equipment to use regular time signals from it as timers or clocks.

Quartz is known to promote harmony and equilibrium by aligning with all chakra points – particularly the crown chakra which serves to connect body to soul. Quartz can amplify healing energy while improving physical strength, stamina, and mental energy.

Smoky Quartz is an effective grounding stone, helping to release emotional and environmental negativity. Try placing one in your home to deflect negative energies and bring in positive flow of energy. Clear Quartz crystal is also great for manifestation – simply hold it in your left hand while clearly declaring what you want manifested.

Origin

Quartz can be found in many geological environments. It forms in igneous rocks when silicon dioxide dissolves at high temperatures and pressures in magma, where its chemical makeup becomes more stable over time, eventually giving way to crystal growth as the temperature and pressure decline. Quartz crystals may become larger as temperature and pressure shift away.

Quartz crystal is usually colorless; however, impurities in its crystal can sometimes create electronic transitions that produce various hues of hues that manifest as citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz and milky quartz – among many others.

Quartz is mined worldwide, but for export, most of our supply comes from Brazil. There are multiple large deposits there where individual miners mine their product before selling to local merchants before sending it off for export.

Varieties

There are various varieties of quartz crystals, each characterized by unique hues and degrees of clarity. Pure crystals usually appear white in hue, while impurities create various colors in quartz.

Smoky quartz is a translucent to opaque variety of stone that features earthy gray hues, due not to iron impurities as in citrine’s yellow tone but due to natural radiation altering its lattice structure.

Other popular quartz variations include smoky topaz, rose quartz and amethyst. Ametrine is another naturally-occurring variety which combines amethyst with citrine for an exceptional color contrast.

Onyx and chalcedony are both cryptocrystalline varieties containing fine intergrowths of small crystals interspersed with some uncrystallized mass. Black onyx features waxy lustre that’s often dyed to add color; in contrast, prase quartz (also known as leek green quartz) is often turned into cabochons to emphasize its vibrant green coloring.
